advice on moving money from canada to uk
Hi
Hope someone can give some advice here. I am UK citizen, my wife Canadian and we now live in UK. My wife has some funds remaining in Canada and we want to figure what best to do with these funds. One option is to transfer the money to the UK and put it into savings, the other is to leave the money in Canada and invest there. The assumption we have is that it makes sense to move it to the UK and if so, can someone recommend how best to do that in terms of getting the best transfer rate?
thanks
Andrew

For example, transferring £10,000 to UK you will lose about £100 in foreign money costs.

Hi Andrew,
qwertyjjj is right the Canadian Dollar is strong at the moment. If you do want/need to transfer funds please have a look at our british expats forum http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=185
Plenty of information on CAD/GBP with historical information and graphs.
I work for Halo Financial, an authorised broker in the UK so if you need any individual guidance please drop me a line.
Thanks
Fran

I use these guys, sometimes several times a week and the rates and service are good. http://www.customhouse.com/
The rates retween currency brokers is going to be marginal, some include their fees in the rate you get, others charge separately. Whichever wa you you slice it, it is not free to exchange currency, as some would like to believe.
