Hi - over the past few years I've been volunteering myself to America helping out at a charity camp for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. I've grown incredibly close to a lot of American's and would love to live and work in the States.....but its not that easy apparently!
I would love some ideas, suggestions or guidance on finding jobs and working in Canada.
A little about me is I'm 26 years old, I have a degree in Sport Science, Coaching and Development and am passionate about my sports and sport psychology especially. I love working with people and have experience working, coaching and training a wide variety of age groups but especially young people.
I have experience in a minor role of a sport governing body as a development officer and have spend the past years in an outdoor centre in Scotland in between my six summers in the American summer camp where I have been a senior member of staff dealing with behaviour issues, staffing issues, training and all other aspects of camp life.
I also have experience living and thriving abroad having spend time in other European countries and also working as a teacher in Malaysia for the best part of a year prior to university.
Most importantly, even more so than being smart, a great team player and a modest if not always willing leader, is that I am determined. I will strive to make my plans happen.
My step Dad does have some family in Canada but I have never spoken to them (despite them saying they could help a few years back when I first thought about travelling) and am unsure how helpful this could be on actually finding a job.
If anyone knows of any good websites or can point me in the location of some places in Canada where I may flourish or any companies from a sport, leisure, outdoor, recreation background, or just any other helpful advice it would all be highly appreciated.
Sorry for the long post and if your still with me then I thank you for taking the time to read this!

Why Canada when your experience is American?
Get an IEC visa and knock on a few doors.

Plus I've always admired the outdoor scene and location of many Canadian provinces.

you'll need a better reason than "I can't get in to America" at interview. Have you tried BUNAC?

Try Wendy Pattenden the CEO at CSI Pacific http://www.csipacific.ca/Content/Abo...x.asp?langid=1
She's a likeable lady and your skills have relevance to her organization. There are Pacific Sport regional centres around BC and perhaps if you're here on an IEC visa she'd be able to consider placing you somewhere. Salaries aren't high, but the work is interesting. I contracted on their behalf for a couple of years assisting with elite athlete development.
