Adoption In Canada
#1
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if you can adopt if you are only a permanent resident here in Canada?
This is something that my wife and I have been thinking about for a long time, so any feedback anyone has would be greatly received.
Thanks

Contact a family law practitioner in your province of residence and discuss from there. Not being a Canadian citizen may well be a problem, maybe not.

Not sure if it helps, but we looked in to fostering a while back and our TWP/residency status was not a consideration for them. The fact that we didnt have PR yet was not an issue.

I think it may vary between provinces.
Here in Newfoundland, I think as long as you are a permanent resident, that is all you need.
