Probably because g(i/y)psies made it.

I don't tend to like sweet things (apart from willmore, naturally) and maple syrup has to be he sweetest thing available, so it's not really surprising I don't like the stuff. I've never tasted Aunt Jemima's gunk, but I don't think I could dislike it more than I dislike maple syrup.

Yes you did, and I really would have thought a true gentleman would have had better taste!!! but then you are a male so perhaps I'm expecting to much from you!!!

real maple syrup is great, the gran folks make the stuff, but it's used in everything, and bacon and sausages in maple syrup is just a tad weird, quite pleasant, but that's all you can get around here...and it's serves with everything...I like ketchup with my bangers...but that's a no no for some reason...

I'm a bit of a food snob/purist, my childhood was spent on a maple syrup farm and I'm freakin' Canadian ta boot and I have to admit I too find maple syrup over poweringly too sweet and always opt fot Auntie J on my pancakes. I've never really liked maple syrup 'straight up' but I remember drizzling spoonfuls of the sap as it was cooking into syrup on to the snow and eating 'maple syrup snow' and liking that. I like stuff with maple syrup in it - I like the flavour - but my teeth and brain cannot handle the sweetness. I vibrate just thinking about it!
