Heard on the news this morning 300 in Calgary 100 in Edminton must be filled by end of August

Don't get too excited, this doesn't even cover the amount of positions needed for the newly graduated nurses in the province.

The thing is they want experienced not just graduated nurses so don't know what they expect the newly qualified to do

No. They want Canadian nurses. For the last couple of years they've not been renewing the TWPs of experienced foreign nurses to make way for "homegrown talent". This is about politics not patient care.

Well if they can fill the positions with Canadian nurses, why would anyone expect them to keep renewing twp's?

Our friend pacepeter above assumes experience and ability trumps politics, I'm just pointing out it doesn't.

Also, with this being a forum primarily aimed at folks thinking of moving to Canada, it's always worth baring in mind that in Alberta booms very quickly turn in to busts.
