1957 news footage of Brits emigrating to Canada
I enjoyed this and thought I'd post it.
Filmed at a time when the Canadian Govt was so desperate for British migrants it organised airlifts.
The questions in this forum about taxes and standard of living seem to be age old.

A wonderful snapshot of the attitudes of the 1950's, "The British are the best and we'll take our best to the Commonwealth."
Might explain why the UK has fallen so low since the late 1970's...

Sexist? I didn't look at that clip and think that at all. My dad was one of those who went to Oz in the 50's by boat. I don't understand this sexist malarky, is be quite happy to be a kept woman, especially in a land of hopes and dreams.
