expired passport
hi
im living in holland abd my british passport expired 7 months ago..
i have a dutch id card saying i can stay here and am busy getting a dutch passport...but in the mean time i would like to travel home via the ferry to my mother for xmas in england...can i chance this with an expired passport...the embassy said id probably be let threw..i obviously dont want to book and end up being sent home and losing my money and dissapointing my mother...would you chance it

I've been checked every time recently, though back in 1999 I took a business trip by car to Paris and back without a passport.
