Their prices were loss-leaders, based on fuel being $70 a barrel. Needless to say, the oil price increase has destroyed them and they won't be the last

Re: Zoom airways goes bust
Surely if their prices were stupid then the prices charged by other airlines are not a rip off, just what should be charged
on the other hand £750 + for a one way fare IS a rip off, considering that when we went to florida earlier this year, BOTH my kids paid £40 each for hotel AND flight. We paid £2.02 return to Dusseldorf for 2 adults including taxes. And most recently £30 each including taxes, return to Geneva at Xmas.
Showing that airlines can sell seats cheap, and still make profit.(the airlines we used are still running at the moment!)

£99 is a stupid price considering it was a long haul flight (in the sense that it is a shock to find value for money these days), but bargains are always appreciated.

It's left my brother over on holiday with his OH, which for some strange reason I'm actually finding rather funny. They're not due to fly back for a couple of weeks yet tho.
My Uncle on the other hand is now an ex-employee of Zoom, the news coming the day they moved house

Zoom was the low cost arm of Air Canada. You're right, they do not fly to Australia, only out of Canada to UK and western Europe.

Re: Zoom airways goes bust
I flew with them to Vancouver (bloody long flight) and they were crap.
We had to clean our own tables and pick up our own rubbish as they didnt have cleaners.
We were told not to 'bother bringing bottles of water on the flight as it was provided' - Well it wasn't and ten hours was a long time to go without a drink
I will never forget the cabin crew noisly clacking on chewing gum as they did the safety demo.
Some of the crew were nice but it rather reminded me of a budget airline taking the budget bit too far. I am surprised we were not made to pee in a cup instead of a toilet.

I presume you were not going to book with them to fly to Australia as they don't fly there.
