That would depend on what you're comparing - looking at Adelaide, I thought rentals were pretty cheap. Looking here is definitely more expensive for me

Australia (in general) has very high home rental prices compared to most countries. For example it is possible to rent a modern 3 bed house in greater london within half an hour commute of the city fo £1000-£1200 pcm. Anything comparible in any major city in Australia would be much more what ever madcap formular you use..

Pollies live in their electorates, so little effect Rental in the ACT is expensive because of popularity and prices for RE is expected to pass Sydney pricing to be the countries most expensive. New suburbs are sprouting all over they still can't keep up with demand.

Why so expensive ? When we were looking in the SW before we bought our house £550 a month would get a really nice cottage. Why on earth is Slough so expensive ?
