I know this was a one off but we managed to pick up 6 kilos for $2 the other day at Woolworths. We stuck some in the fridge for making fake ice cream and had a banana feast with the rest. Next time I looked it was $12/kilo

Nothing cos I'm allergic...well unless I fancy looking like that hideous woman who's made her face look like a cat....If she were allergic she would have thought bananas were a right bargin!!

I pay $4/kg for lady fingers directly from the growers at the market. I often buy a 3 or 4 ripe ones and a big bunch of green ones to last for a whole week. As they are not sprayed, they ripen much more slowly than the supermarket bananas.
