Smile YIPPEE! I'M A NON-SMOKER!

Thanks to Alan Carr's Book

I finished reading his book this morning and have stamped out my final cigarette.

Good on you Paul.

It's been almost 4 years since I read that book. Not had a ciggie since If I can do it, so can you

I found that the first few days were the worst, so every time I felt I needed one I just got up and made a pot of tea or something. Distracted me enough to get through the few minutes of need and gave me time to remind myself how I'd feel if I had one now. The longer I went, the worse I knew I'd feel if I gave in and had one.

Then at the end of the first week, I went out and bought something nice with the cash I'd saved on ciggies. Bought a nice necklace that I still have. Reminds me every day how much better off I am for not smoking.

Better off without that muck - now you can smell and taste how the real world properly is.

I stopped smoking using his book in June 2003. Havent had a smoke since. I still occasionally have dreams/nightmares of having a cigarrette and then I wake up thinking 'woo hoo, it was just a dream'. Dont be surprised if that happens to you, but its a good feeling.

Congrats on your achievement.

Thanks everyone

Gotta dash now cos I'm committed to spending the rest of the day at Sydney harbour (what a fool! ) to await the fireworks and need to recharge this netbook, etc first.

...Chat later

Yup, that did it for me too.

The crack habit is proving more troublesome.

Not just me then - I stopped smoking over 11 years ago and have never gone back to it...but I have the occasional dream where I have had or having a cigg- scares the shit out of me....but it's only a nightmare

Add me the list....I stopped 6 years ago using the same book...and I very occasionally am smoking in a dream and then think 'thank christ' when I wake up. To those thinking of doing it, once I made the decision to give up for life it was far easier than I thought...the decision was the key...made it a doddle and I smoked almost a pack a day.

Well done paulry
