It was sooo funny, one mention of the word and whan, they all stop munching their turkey sandwiches and start flapping
We had Carols by Candlelight on TV in here, one of the girls wanted to watch it. "Endure" is an excellent word for the experience. Now maybe I'm too much of a traditionalist, but to my mind it should be something like Carols from Kings, nice "proper" carols and stuff, instead of which it seemed to be a bunch of very badly sung songs that in the main couldn't be called carols by ANY stretch of the imagination

Staff have now all pushed off cos the threatened cyclone hasn't got to the right wind speed yet, its just me and a copper, and I now have "proper" carols on, much more civilised

Sounds splendid, from what I saw/heard it was a load of z-list celebs using the Maria Carey Method of hitting all notes between the current and target ... and pulling 'emotional' faces doing it ... Ghastly crowd shots didn't help ... I can only thank God/Allah/Jimi that the sound was low.

Hope the shift passes peacefully :)

Yep, turned into Tropical Cyclone Tasha during my Christmas shift  and it was after midnight so she really was a christmas cyclone. Back to a low by 8am and bringing loads of rain down through the State now.
There's another one brewing in the Gulf of Carpentaria, not sure whether that will become a cyclone or just another rain-bearing depression but I have a feeling that we will get another before too long. The next one in Aussie waters will be Vince.......

:D
I worked in a Brighton petrol station eyars ago and we had a lot of gay guys living round the corner, one of them was called Vince. He was camper then John Inman and drove a bright pink beetle with flowers on the parcel shelf. He used to have rows with his boyfriend over the public phone in the garage and was rather graphic  I can't see the name to this day without thinking of him and shuddering! If I'm the one that has to take the call from the Bureau of Met telling us Cyclone Vince has been named I shall crack up, I just know it

Warbling and wincing - so I don't watch them and turn on to (attend) the one in our village.

The compere used to be a tenor with one of those 'English' accents who led a few odds and sods - now the local choir who stood out the front on the grass of the community centre.

He retired last year and now we have one of the choir members who can sing but he's a bit of a pleb - cracking one too many jokes. Having said that they have discovered a nice 16 year old girl in a proper dress who really can sing and they wheeled her out and got loads of solos. And she doesn't warble.

When my kids are older I am join the choir seeing as people seem to think I could give the old compere a run for his money!

I thought they could have at least broadcast from a Sydney or Melbourne cathedral with the best choir to hand, with the Royal Philly orchestra yadda yadda.

Don't they do that? I didn't check the guide.

Don't know, I was too busy to look it up. I just know there was an appalling caterwauling that sounded like me doing karaoke on a bad night - and thats BAD!
