Do Aussie companies ever dish out xmas bonuses?

Pretty standard in the UK even if its only a couple of hundred quid or so - not a sniff of one here :(

My husband and I worked for 20 years in the UK and neither of us had Christmas bonuses. Unless it has changed in the last 5 years I wouldn't say it was pretty standard. I don't know anyone who gets them here either.

Himself tends to get a bonus sometime in the middle of the year rather than a Christmas bonus (he never got one in the UK either)

We get a performance bonus in September once the profits are declared.

Usually have a really good free piss up at Xmas :thumbup: Well 2 actually, one for the office people, and one for the field crew (that we get to go to as well :D)

We also get to go to dinner dances and stuff all year..I love my job!! :thumbsup:

Don't think I've ever had a Xmas bonus as such, UK or here. Well until now, of sorts - got a $50 Borders gift card this year. My company lays on a fairly lavish Xmas party as well so no complaints.

never had one myself, oh never had one in the UK.

He got a $500 one this year :thumbup: It depends on how well the company's done through the year and how bloody hard they make the techs work leading up to xmas.

DH gets an annual bonus, paid in about March. For Christmas they normally give every employee a $100 Myer voucher.

He never had a Christmas bonus in the UK.

They used to, when I first arrived here. It seemed very normal here, but I had never had any in the UK before, so it was a very pleasant surprise. The longer serving staff had from $1,000 to $5,000, all I got was a dozen bottles of wine, it was very good wine though :thumbup:

I work for my husbands business.He gave me an extra twenty dollars to buy food shopping.He obviously wasnt impressed with my performance this year.Havent had an invite to a staff party either.:D

Never got one in my real job of decades (public service) and neither did the DH (another public servant) but since working for a charity we get a Christmas gift from the organization of $50 which was most unexpected the first time I got it - a nice gesture I think. Another not for profit organization I know is giving $860 bonus this year - not sure that I think a charity should be using that much for bonuses! My dad gave Christmas bonuses to his workers in UK every year before he retired.

Nothing official from the hospital, but 2 of my consultants have given me gift cards (one DJs, one Meyer) with which I've bought 2 new dresses (DJs) and haven't spent the other yet. Our HOD is extremely generous and takes me out for nice lunches on a regular basis - sometimes it's a fancy restaurant and other times it's just a bite to eat by the river. Our department also has a really nice Christmas lunch mostly paid for by the consultants.

When the old man worked for the first employer here he got a yearly bonus in early November which was usually about $3000-$4000. This year, with another employer he's had nothing...Not even a Christmas card.

She should get a good super contribution. My experience of federal public service is of fear of performance related bonuses. Once the union gets a wiff the idea is shot down.

One company I worked for gave a $50 ham voucher for XMas.

Performance related bonuses tend to evolve around the financial year and have been anywhere from 2% to 4% for stretch or 10% - 20%.

I reckon I'd have to be given a Merc a year to work for that fat twat Clive Palmer...in fact it would need to be a very good one. Where's the vomit smilie when you need one?
