I worked in a refinery in Aus.

On different Christmases we got:

$100 gift voucher
some Mayfair and Jackson crockery
A food flask with the company name on it
A lions club Christmas cake.
Plus a party every year.

In UK, we get a party....

We got a nice wet weather system.
No parties, no bonuses, no time off, even have to pay for our own food and drink while working over Christmas....but I still love my job.....I must be seriously weird

QLD Public service isn't it.

Do you get an allowance or OT for public holiday work?

No grounds for it! Just working normal shifts so just eating as normal, just cos its Christmas doesn't make it claimable :(

I love making them.......its that moment when the person on the other end is muttering " oh **** what time is it WHOthehellisriningingatthishour......." and then they realise its the work phone and they have to switch their brain on fast :D And the more important the person you're ringing, the greater the sense of satisfaction at waking them!

The company I last worked for in Oz for 8 years used to call us into the boardroom a few days before Christmas and the manager would give us the speech about profits, losses, blah blah blah then he would announce our bonus which would be between 1 to 3 weeks pay dependent on profits for the year.

The company I work for now? NADA. :(

OH should get a bonus in the new year, after the profits have been calculated. I'm hoping it is a big one, as I may soon be forced to give up my job due to deteriorating health, and we need every penny (still can't say cent!)
