Poor little girl - 100% there is more to this as the dr's and I am sure the parents would not have acted so quickly otherwise. Perhaps (and there have been other cases of this), the child was born with characteristics of both genders and the incorrect solution (i.e the child being treated a boy) was made.
Or perhaps it is really very obvious that they should be girl. It wont just be on a whim, even if the parents were thick as.
The schools handling of it is a difficult one but I am sure at 12 the other kids will get over it. the child in question though, I am sure was going to have a hard time whatever and I guess its hard to deal with even the internal politics at home without considering the wider population and their opinions.

From what I read no actual hormone therapy or surgery has taken place. The boy simply dressed as the opposite sex.

The parents should have moved the child to another school to start afresh as a girl. It can't be easy for this child who eveyone knows as a boy.
