In my experience it is the opposite, it seems that most of the people who frequently post on here are the ones that don't like being in Oz so are attracted to this site and other fellow dislikers.

If you are enjoying your life and getting on with it then you don't have the need to be on this site all the time![/QUOTE]

In general that's my impression too.

It's one thing to point out negatives to prospective immigrants, it's another to deride and ridicule for the sake of it.

Yes I agree. It's like when people ring radio stations they only ever complain about the government, the ones who are happy don't feel the need to voice their satisfaction! On another note, it's so nice to go to a site where the majority of posters use correct grammar and in the main, spell correctly. I can't believe the standard of teenage grammar and spelling on some websites in westernised countries, and I am not just talking "tweet or text" language.:(

I have to say that I really don't think BE is going through one of its 'negative posters' phases.
It's certainly been much worse in the past and its also been a great deal more positive about Australia as well. The Barbie was full of Godzoners for a long, long time, but they just seem to be less prevalent at the moment.
Given the current exchange rate pressures for UK migrants, I'm not surprised that new arrivals find it really tough and want to bitch about the place a bit.

I think BE-ers have been a little more realistic this past year or so. Either that or I was previously wearing low resolution rose tinted glasses. :o:D

I think you're right.
Five years back a move from the UK was that bit easier to do. People really could turn up with a big wedge from the UK house sale, find a job and start 'living the dream'.
Anybody who questioned it in those times I think was considered a bit mad. It's a LOT harder to move now and people are finding it tough to make the move work for them.

I think we have a lot less prospective migrants on the site these days. Seems to be more of us around who have already moved in comparison to the number of newbies joining. However I think we still have about 50/50 between those of us who are here and love it vs the rest of us that are here and feel differently ;)

I wonder how much that is down to a real drop in UK migrants, or if it's more to do with the changed makeup of the immigration board?

Good point. Could be.

Yep.

Yep again. Although I found it tough moving from S.A. to the UK, then back to S.A. again and then back to the UK. So I find the level of toughness about the same. No illusions as to how tough it was going to possibly be, moving here to Oz. This forum helped us a lot.

I think it's also because Immi rules have changed and a lot less people can get visas now compared to in the past.
