Yes you can (as long as you have a broadband internet connection!)
We bought Mariokart and played it against our friends in the UK - it is great fun, although it is let down by not being able to speak to them via the Wii at the same time. Part of the fun is laughing at eachother,

Thanks for letting me know I think i will just leave it as it is .We only got it on sunday and I really got it for the new fit game that is coming out on the 8th May. We are both really enjoying it and so is my grandson

NTSC and Pal are the main video formats throughout the world. NTSC is used in the US and Canada. Pal is used in the UK, most of Europe, Australia and South Africa. If you live in a Pal country the video format is not much of an issue since you will almost certainly be able to play both Pal and NTSC VHS tapes and DVDs.
