Not sure what reasons you might think are normal but we moved because we could and wanted to give it a go along with wanting a more relaxed life, more sun etc.

I moved because I had some family livng here and not much was happening in my life at the time. It seemed like a bit of an adventure. It's certainly been an experience, but I could have improved on my life without moving countries. Maybe it was just a distraction, an easy way of changing a set of circumstances? Doing a "geographical" I think it's called

Partners of two races, give both places a shot, nothing more nothing less really.

why are you not so sure?

we have been here for 9 months now and the rose coloured glasses have come off and we are now seeing the flaws as well as the benefits of being here. I would be interested to know what has changed your perspective

simply because i felt like it!

I'd been over on holiday 3 times (6 months in total), and thought I might as well give it a go.

never had any rose tinted glasses as to what life would be like over here, so I'm not finding any down points, or unfulfilled expextations.

in fact, if anything, it's getting better!

I'm starting to think the same thing; everything happens at it's own pace here which is quaint when you are not in a hurry but frustrating as hell when you are looking for a job, trying to get to work or desperate to sell the car. I am also quite concerned about whether or not my kids, when they come, will be able to find well paying jobs or ever be able to afford housing.

The economy here is 100% held up by the mining industry, I am concerned that if there is a recession in India or China then WA will crash when resource prices fall. I guess we've just had a tough couple of months and I am feeling a bit pissed off at some stuff that has gone wrong for us recently, but on balance we have a good life here and have made some fantastic friends.

I didn't have many expectations when I came and went through a period of wondering if we had done the right thing but I think that is only natural. I found that as time went on I actually appreciated things here more and you might feel the same. Where abouts in Australia are you?

We had a ton of expectations and very few if any were realised, just made for one hell of a bellyflop. Best thing is to expect nothing then you can't be dissapointed.
