we have been here for 9 months now and the rose coloured glasses have come off and we are now seeing the flaws as well as the benefits of being here. I would be interested to know what has changed your perspective

simply because i felt like it!
I'd been over on holiday 3 times (6 months in total), and thought I might as well give it a go.
never had any rose tinted glasses as to what life would be like over here, so I'm not finding any down points, or unfulfilled expextations.
in fact, if anything, it's getting better!

The economy here is 100% held up by the mining industry, I am concerned that if there is a recession in India or China then WA will crash when resource prices fall. I guess we've just had a tough couple of months and I am feeling a bit pissed off at some stuff that has gone wrong for us recently, but on balance we have a good life here and have made some fantastic friends.

I didn't have many expectations when I came and went through a period of wondering if we had done the right thing but I think that is only natural. I found that as time went on I actually appreciated things here more and you might feel the same. Where abouts in Australia are you?
