It was the D22, but after being missing for a while, the D22 is back with a 2.5 ltr etc etc etc...... The D40 is the one with the same front end as the R51 Pathfinder (like yours)

The D40 will now run alongside the D22. D40 has won 'Ute of the year' a couple of times I believe.

The thing about money is it gives you choice.

Most money is accumulated through hard work; trust me not many people win the lotto.

If I work hard I have the ability to exercise choice.

There are an awful lot of people drving around in Australia in Prado's, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Landcruisers etc and not just in Sydney or Melbourne's 'better' suburbs.

In my experience most money is accumulated by sacrificing your soul and ethical principles and climbing the corporate ladder.

And the higher up you go the less work you actually do.

Might just be my company

I am finding this to be true. I 'attend' rather than work - delegation is great. I often feel embarrased when I see my payslip - I certainly don't earn what I get.

Glad this thread started,

We've been looking at used cars for ages and will be buying one soon as we arrive. less than 4 weeks now!!!!

But why are used cars not that much cheaper?

We've been looking in auto trader, if anyone has any recommendations for somewhere to shop around Brissie for a Ute it would be very appreciated

Ah but you're probably paid for taking on the 'extra responsibility' ... yeh, right!

Nope, the real workers are usually the ones who are generally underappreciated and get paid peanuts ... teachers, childcare workers f'rinstance ...

Because there is no salt on the roads (or in the air/rain). Cars do not depreciate as fast because they do not rust as fast.

Very common to be in a taxi with 250km on the clock

That's part of the story. All dealers, especially main dealers, keep their prices high to maintain their profit margins. This is supported by an Aussie public that has been conditioned to accept high prices.

$42k 2nd hand with 50K on it

New ST-L 2.5 Diesel auto with a nudge bar and driving lights is only $54,500 + OTR which you could get a deal on anyway and knock a few $k off. Side steps and roof rails and fog lamps are standard anyway on the ST-L - or you could knock another $3k off that by getting the manual + doing a bit of a deal to get another couple of $k off on top of that.
