I must admit, I'm really loving the climate now or better put the length of the warm months. Really love the 2 weeks of beautiful weather in the UK too but its only 2 weeks per year.

I wanted an adventure and warmer weather.
I love the warmer weather. OH and I have never been big tv watchers, preferring instead to chat and listen to music. Now, we do that outside for a good part of the year.
We have recently moved to a house with a pool and the kids are in it every day at the moment.
My job in the UK was getting very stressful, it's less stressful here but also less flexible.

But in 2008 I also somehow managed to contract pneumonia and spent some time in hospital which for a very fit and healthy 30 year old who hardly ever had a cold or visited a GP was a bit of a shock!
The result of that was that when you got a combination cold damp weather it would get on my chest a bit and get infections.
Not had a chest infection since I came to Australia and feel healthier.

Came because we could and the kids were still young 6, 5 and 2. Wish we'd stayed in a lot of respects, but know we are perfectly fine here despite me in particular not feeling 'right' or completely at home.

Not only possible but cruising has really taken off in recent years. This includes around the world voyages and segments off.
Ships relocating from one area of the world to another to cash in on the seasons can be a good deal.
The big difference is today of course is that migrants fly in place of long sea voyages done in the past.
But sea travel is very readily available.

I wonder if the same findings would be articulated in today's Australia as some of the comments expressed on this thread?
Life has certainly got harder and less assured than for previous generations of immigrants. The excessive housing costs responsible largely for putting a spoke in the wheel.
I for one would have been unlikely to start of here in OZ these days. I do not find working conditions in any sense relaxed here and neither does my partner. Quite the contrary in recent times. Ever declining job security as well.

Ok thanks. I have always wanted to do that at some point.
