Not only does he have problems identifying the ladieeees, but now you're saying he doesn't smell very nice? Poor man! And if he goes shopping with you, he'll probably end up with something like a rowing machine

I have a cunning plan - I'm going to get Swerv-o to buy me the rowing machine! Everyone knows women like presents.

OK, I'm going to get ready to head out later. For the love of god, don't mention to Mr GG that I've been sat here all day and not done anything. If he mentions it, you've not seen me, right?

Fairly obvious- it amazes me that anyone would make such a big change without personally knowing what it's like. I couldn't do it.

I wasn't thinking of reccie's as such(how many do a reccie, then call the whole thing off? Not many, I'd guess.), but that someone would want to go permanently, apparently not having had any desire to go there previously.

Saying that, a good friend of mine went in 2004 (never been before) but loves it. Of course there are exceptions to anything....

Surely though, you have got to be taking more of a gamble, arriving first time- to live?

It amazes me that people generalise so much, and become so judgemental.

All of us are different, none right, none wrong....just different, with a wealth of different experiences

Isn't it the nature of a discussion like this, to generalise? Not knowing every single detail of each and every person here or elsewhere...

I was basically judging myself, I thought You seem to be judging me though?

Me too! About the only thing I ever got a prize for in school was a big project on Australia

Had/have you been before you move(d)? I have visited or lived in Oz 8 times, with holidays and travelling, longest being for 2 1/2 years, with 18 months in NZ also.

Nope, never had the money for holidays here (just about managed Greece every 3 years!)

When we did get a chance for a visa, we couldn't justify spending £5k on a trip to look round because we needed it to live on while hubby got his licence.

I'm an Aquarian anyway, we're known for our eccentric ways and just diving in at the deep end. It keeps life interesting
