why choose oz to all other countries why not canada newzealand america etc
New Zealand - would consider it if didn't want to remain in Aus, as have young family need support of family thus Aus is destination. Europe - too bloody lazy to be bothered to learn a new language :p Australia - Want to experience what it has to offer on a daily basis rather than a few weeks every decade or so. Have close family links so is the most viable option. They kinda speak English  |
Re: Why Australia
Canada - Too cold in winter
America - Too weird New Zealand - Too expensive Greece - did consider it but there wasn't any work for my OH, I can't speak Greek (well none of us can :D ). Turkey - Just didn't like it France - Too many french people Spain - Too many English people They are the ones that were on our list along with Australia. |
Re: Why Australia
because other halfs family and friends are there, and then again why not?

I prefered the shape of Australia - it's highly reminiscent of a complex hydrogen molecule.

Same could be said for Australia.... I went to see a house the other day and I saw the neighbour was out so went to ask him about gas supply on the street. What a nice bloke! Broad Yorkshire, so we had a chat about the footy, and I have to say, he was slipping... we'd been there a full two minutes before we got offered a cup of tea. Nice neighbours. :) Um, why Australia? It was the furthest point away from my parents. |

Re: Why Australia
Cos I have lived in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong & Germany and my family all came to visit.
So we went further afield to get some peace and quiet  (Definately need a tongue in cheek smiley here!) |
Re: Why Australia
USA - Like California but can't get in.
Canada - Like it but shit winters NZ - Nice but don't want to live in a 3rd World Country. France - Nice but no jobs. Same for the rest of Europe. Belgium - Nearly moved there and was going to commute through the tunnel. Came here instead. South Africa - Fantastic if you are single. Not the place to raise a family though. Western Australia - Western, 1st World, great economy, great jobs with high salaries, prosperous, secure, modern, beautiful, great weather, materialistic, great infrastructure, fantastic opportunities. WA got the vote. |

Re: Why Australia
Tried the US, hated it.
Applied for PR in Canada, ridiculously long waiting time Got offered a job here and figured it was a better place to wait for our Canadian PR than our crappy life in England. Here we are, Canadians now ready to process our application?? Dilemmas???? |

With South Afreeka as a backround I suppose Perth would seem like a dream. Enjoy the mines and when you are not working 12 hour shifts in the middle of nowhere you can.......Live in the arse end of Australia. |

Australia a depolys an insidious method of brain washing ,hate all else OZ is great .that is why aussies don't complain it is unaustralian that is why Aussies will pay a fortune for poor quality fruit and veg because it is grown in aust .the government paints a picture of utopia and like lambs to the slaughter the gullable poms flock not knowing they are in for a reeming ,having to pay for public school $11,000per child ,extra for a medical system they're not allowed to use , higher tax rates than ozzies for the same income the insidious racism steming from the oz is great brain washing it's great here where the bloody hell are you ????? |

wendy, did you live in turkey,or toy with the idea of living there?
My MIL owns an appartment there. I went for a holiday with her before she bought it to have a look around but didn't really like it all that much. I was comparing to Greece though so that's probably the main reason. The idea was that when she retired next year she would open a bar there and me and hubby would run it for her. |
