Why....

Re: Why....
Coles and Woolies sell it, usually in the same section of shelving as the oxo cubes (see below). Its a little tub with a green lid. If you add an oxo cube it improves the flavour no end
(sorry, know its a tiny picture)
Definitely lump free though!
(ignore MP - make your own gravy?? I think she's a reject from the 50s ::legs it:: )

Turning to MP: I wonder if she's the kind of wife who dutifully greets her hubby at the door with a pair of slippers and a bright cheery smile?

Re: Why....
As Green's is not in every supermarket, I feel duty bound to buy a tub or two whenever I see it, just to make the point that there is a demand for it.

I just like real gravy and it's easy. He however loves real gravy but won't make it so we have gravox in the cupboard and it's shite but if he cooks and does gravy he uses that and I don't have it.

I'm not that bloody old!
Never heard of it and yes you are.
The husband just snorted very loudly and asked when that was going to start. I told him never.

My OH has tried making it but has never quite got it right. I have memories of my late mum and nan making it but not certain what the ingredients are. I think Bisto (not seen that here), flour, the juices from the roast and prepared in the roasting pan is what it takes. I'm guessing that if no juices are available then oxo will work as a substitute.

Re: Why....
I always have small blocks of stock in the freezer so if a meat doesn't make juice I just defrost one of those. Melt some butter, at same quantity of flour, mix off the heat, add s&p, back on heat, add some heated up stock, mix more, add more etc etc etc, if not enough stock add some veggie water to the thickness to want. Never use oxo cubes, way too salty for me.

Why do bathrooms and toilets have a higher floor level than the rest of the house? Wouldn't it make more sense to have them lower?
