on the whole, financially swings and roundabouts, but quality of life will be better, not neccesarily because it is, but because after moving to the other side of the world i will make sure it is. if i can't, i shall whinge endlessly on this forum till i can get back to scotland!
good luck to everyone making the move, and even more good luck to those who are unhappy, for what ever reason. i hope you can get what you are looking for and i'm sorry if oz didn't work out for you
can only hope it does for us.
I hope it does work for you, it can be an expensive mistake but it's like anywhere else it will depend on your experiences at home and your new place and experiences.

Good post

Reading posts expressing highs and lows, set backs and achievements, goals and aspirations and even failures, are all issues we face in our daily lives, irrespective of which bit of equator you happen to be living in.

At the end of the day, it’s about choice and the choices we make don’t always work out in the way we intended them to, even if you have an exit strategy. Sadly a lot don’t and many use this forum as a coping strategy, giving everyone the opportunity to make an informed choice, before, during or after their move. Hope that makes sense.

Anyway, when work and/or relationship suffers as a consequence, this in my opinion only adds to the frustrations felt, and others that cannot return must make their current situation unbearable and soul wrenching.

Another reason Why?? is that some people get in a rut, I/we happened to be in one back in the UK and the change in our attitude and behaviour, has been refreshing since we arrived in OZ, doing wonders for our health and well being.

Being pulled and not pushed only adds to our positive experience.

Embracing change at work, wherever we live, whatever we do seems for us the best way of handling the emotional ups and downs, others are not as well equipped and don't enjoy change in the workplace and this often leads to a feeling of job insecurity, anger and bitterness. These often manifest themselves in posts of some threads. Others of course are indifferent to change. (same shit, different bucket).

To all those in BE land who are feeling stressed out at this time of year waiting, wondering if they should go or go back or can't go back, I hope you find a solution that allows you to move forward that makes the most of what you've got now.

Good Luck whatever path you choose to take

You make some good points as ever, but as some people have pointed out, the survey is from 1999 and compared to the Australian wages survey of 2006, it is not a fair comparison. Just because statistics are quoted, doesn't automatically make someone right. It doesn't make me right. Do your own research people. Don't assume Vash or I are correct.

The average annual Australian salary is £21,866 ($54,668 AUD) Source

Let's leave overtime and bonuses out of this shall we?
