Whinging pom eggs. Racist or just ocker humour?

Sunny Queen Eggs are set to launch a new advertising promotion with 'Whinging Pom Eggs' for a trial in Melbourne and Sydney. See web site for more details the video clip is very good !!
BUT------------Is this racism disguished as slick advertising or just fair dinkum Aussie humour ?

"Whinging Pom" is a rather tired refrain and embarrassingly over-used these days, but it's definitely not racism. If they said "Whinging white people", that might be racist.

Exactly.

How about half a dozen playing didgeridoo and with their own little boomerangs... they could even have the egg box looking like the Abo flag. It would go down like a lead balloon.

That comeback would have been brilliant if the Sunny Queen Egg marketing ploy had actually been racist. But it wasn't, so it isn't.

Yes, that'll go down well with the 25% of Australians who came here from a foreign country (including those from the UK). I'm sure they just love that corny old "convict" label, along with all the people in states which began as free colonies (ie. South Australia).
