What's the worst advice you have taken away from B.E

The constant 'don't bother trying to have a joke with Australians, they won't get your English sense of humour' (paraphrasing obviously). Complete bollox.

It's a tricky one innit. Going to things and having a crap time and coming away feeling like shit is awful. What I find even worse is meeting people that you don't like / have nothing in common with but they seem to like you and then you can't shake them off and it turns into some protracted texting nightmare spinning huge lies about why you can't meet up with them again. Or is that just me...

I suppose the lesson is: when people say that you shouldn't say no to an invite they mean that you have to exercise a bit of the common dog. I mean - if you get invited to the local chapter of the Jehovah - Mormon - Born Again sect - you might decide not to go - or like me - (have a bit of fun at your own or their expense)..If you get invited to the local branch of the Commerce association - go. There might be one person there that you click with - or call back in n months when there is a reason to.

There seems to be people with such a parochial sense of humour that it does not survive a move from a region of the UK - much less across borders...
..you hear of people saying that noone gets their sarcasm...well that might just be because it sounds just bloody negative - and if you add a local accent in - perhaps unintelligible. What's wrong with a dry sense of humour? To be honest, the humour that opened doors for me in the UK opens doors here...

Which is decidedly weird

Ditto for me too. Any 'merican pals I've had are just fab. I've had no problems at all.
