They are actually saying a crowd attendance record could be broken. Weather looks like it should be good.

Could get some of the Barmy army walking the Short Distance to Swan St, for the MV game on the 27th.... except that the stupid FFA have scheduled MV's game v Newcastle for 6pm... how dumb is that. Should have made it 8.00pm and had 10 dollar general Admission. Could have been a sell out, Makes you wonder how their marketing people tick.

F knows where I'm going to park.... bleeding MCG !

That sounds really good actually. I've yet to do a Party on or within view of Sydney Harbour. Especially New Years.

I was tempted to train with a net and was talking about it with my mate (who works for DEC) last week but she said the safest method is the one you are trained to do so stick to it. Alot of the snake catchers (blokes) round our way pick them up by their tails but again, I was taught under no circumstances (unless the snake is caught up in wire), should you do 'skin to scale'.

What kind of snakes do you get in Sydney? Ive just done dugites so far.
I know!!! There's not too many of us! Wonder why?

We're members of WIRES and so attended one of their courses, they teach you how to catch them with a bag (not sure if this is what you are referring to as a net?) and a hook/jigger and how to tail them as well. I personally preferred the tail method but I guess it depends on the situation and the snake. They don't use any grabbers or tongs at all.

Haven't been on many call outs but have been told by experienced rescuers that red belly blacks and eastern browns are the most common call outs. A large number of call outs in the city will be escaped pets. Apparently there's a nutter who lives a few streets out from the CBD that breeds Taipans!

Hopefully all the snakes will be sleeping on Christmas morning so we can have a lie in!

Yes deffo a bag but I always call it a net for some reason. We use the hook and the 'gentle grabbers' (not like the old metal tongs they used to use). But Bob always said never touch the snake directly.

Our course was a day and we had to catch a death adder, tiger snake, juvenille dugite and adult dugite, Western Brown and King Brown for our assessment, each snake was caught a minimum of about 5 times. Then we had a written assessment and for our practical, Bob hid in a 'room' a death adder, tiger snake, dugite and a python that we had to locate and capture.

As for the guy breeding Taipans! Bloody hell! Mr PP has bought me a snake book for xmas, he let me have a quick look at it and then took it away to be wrapped!
