As long as they are in business, they must be doing something right. Just because you don't like what they offer, doesn't mean they need to learn to cook.

If cooking Fish and Chips means leaving them under a light bulb to bake and making 'orrible fat chips then I'm no fan..

..the whims and taste of some Expats confound me(!) - each to his or her own. I will just never understand many Expats..

So I take it you are not one of those Ten-Ton-Tessa's who queues up outside Sizzler waiting for the All-you-can-eat salad bar to open?

Never been to a Sizzler and have no intention of starting. Feral place, judging by the queues. Why do people happily queue outside a building just to have a lump of salmonella chicken and a snot encrusted salad? Even if my kids were small, we wouldn't go there. Worse than Harvester (I imagine).

The one & only time that we have been to a Sizzler was in the US & it was a very interesting experience:blink:
I have thought about going to the one in Cairns but there are too many good places to eat between here & there!

I miss proper fish and chips although the inproper fish and chips on the beach at mooloolaba spit does get me by. Its a bit civilized and I hate waiting for it to cook.

I miss ready cooked, snack items. Now I do get little sausage rolls, sausages and nibbles from a baker thanks to Sal one of the girls in the office. I just need more time so I can have an old fashioned baking day on a monday to cook snack food for the children. I dont really like rubbish, processed stuff and so its hard going.

shopping - not even going to go there. boring. the Sunshine Coast is not a place for shopping, in any shape, manner or form. I hated shopping in the uk now I realise I did quite enjoy it.

british newspapers. I know I can get some but I am not that driven to.

being close to Europe.

the smell of the country.

lots of things I suppose but a visit will get me by

I know this has been mentioned before but whats wrong with aussie fish and chips???I personally prefer them to the Uk's.I had the most yummiest fish and chips when I was back in Oz last May and they were cheap too!Yes I even had chicken salt!;)We had to wait a fairly long time but atleast they were fresh and not been sat on the bain marie for hours!

I think he has a point. Here it's in the middle of the six/eight week school holidays and so it's not so mega. Suits me actually being as we're not religious, it always seems a tad hypocritical to celebrate it at all.

Happy Thursday Possible Fact:

Apparently, Jesus was born mid-year, but the powers-that-be decide to move his birthday to December for exactly that reason, to give you something to look forward to during the winter.

Thats exactly how I feel - we're soon moving back to OZ (from Canada) but I'll be leaving behind children - who will be having their own kids probably within the next few years.

I wish I could pick them up and move them with us - life would be perfect  But they have their own lives and we'll have to make do with Facebook and Skype and visits. :(
