Default What would you do? Ebay....

I bought a top from Ebay which has obviously been tumbled dried to oblivion and the body of the top is quite short. It is a hoodie so it looks even more obvious.
I only paid £5 including postage - don't want to leave negative feedback, but definately want the seller to know i am not happy.
I am thinking of messaging them but also don't want a big 'hoo haaa/he said/she said' thing either.
What would you do?

Why not leave neutral feedback? Not as harsh as negative but means you're not entirely happy either? Although most sellers prefer you to tell them before you leave anything but positive just incase they can rectify the situation.

Ask her what her returns policy is as the top isn't as described. If she is sensible she will refund your money if you post it back to her and the transaction canl be mutually withdrawn.

Good luck.

Same as the UK via paypal, or by direct deposit into the sellers bank account - that is more common here than back home, and I've never had a problem with it - avoids paypal fees too that way so sellers prefer it.

Standad procedure: Contact seller to see if they want to do anything about your dissatisfaction. If they cannot fix things, contact eBay customer service and tell them, they will try, you may even get a refund from Paypal, though I wouldn't hold out hope. If all this fails, or takes longer than a week, leave negative feedback.

I had a simular experience with a item i purchased from ebay, although the item was listed as used, i was not happy with the condition the item arrived in, it was bobbly from constant wear and washing. I did email the seller to say that i would like to return the item and have a full refund, as she had not stated the exact condition of the item in the discription. The seller agreed and sent me a full refund and told me to kept the item regardless.. problem solved.

Usually ebay/paypal wont refund an item from ebay unless its over 15.00. Dont know why but it is listed in the policies, or it use to be anyway.

Good luck

Why not? Surely that's what the feedback system is for?

Absolutely. But get on to her first and ask for a refund. If that doesn't work then leave the negative feedback. She's not fulfilled the contract. End of.

Thanks for the replies.
I decided to email her and say that i wasn't happy with the top and that i wasn't going to ask for a refund or leave negative feedback but as a kind word of warning other people would and were quite entitled to so.
So, just awaiting a reply
TBH it cost me £5.50 with postage and i know it is the principle but as long as they know i know (if you get me) then I think i am happy with that.

You're a better person than me J, but good on ya for taking the higher road. Personally, if I was taking your stance, I'd leave positive feedback but include something like "if buying 2nd hand goods here plz confirm exact condition prior to bidding". That at least might make some buyers stop to think before bidding and avoid similar situations in the future.

Here's hoping the seller has the good grace to offer you a refund given your kindness.

I have to say I think you are doing other buyers a dis-service if you aren't honest on ebay.

Sure give her the chance to sort it out with a refund first but tell the truth on feedback. How else is anyone ever gonna know who is safe/good to buy from.

You don't need to be rude just - Item not as expected but well resolved/fully refunded/ignored etc etc by seller. She can alway reply if she disagrees. That is how the system is sposed to work.

BTW I am mainly a seller not a buyer so get no benefit from this advice!
