Hi,
My husband and I moved out to Mackay from Cornwall in July 08 and we are loving it. I work as a podiatrist and he works for Virgin airlines. I'm 39 and he is 41 and as we have no kids we are available for much socialising. We have found that there are plenty of activities to get involved in around Mackay if you are over 60 and like bowling/ ballroom dancing, or if you are into sport in a big way, but as we don't fit into these categories we are a bit stuffed.
Would welcome any posts from any sympathisers!!!
Cheers!!! L & K

Anyway will look forward to it. This was my first post so I'm very new to this forum although I have occasionally looked at it well before we got to Oz. Aren't we lucky to be living in Mackay though? Absolutely all my patients who have travelled extensively throughout Australia tell me that Mackay has got to be the best place to live in Australia...because of the climate, the beaches and the people (but definately not the driving!). Be interested in your views...

We have been in Mackay for 10 days and it has been quite stressfull. We are in the process of trying to find a rental! I haven't even thought about socialising yet but can't wait for some time out and just get to know people. Have felt a bit lonely with just the kids for company as hubby is at work but making the most of spending time with them as it has been a huge move for them aswell. Me and OH have had a couple of moans at each other which is not like us but realise it is just the stress talking. Once we are settled i would like to meet up with some ex-pats.
