We have had mixed advice regarding what we can take and what simply won't work in Oz, ie Electrical items (well its an ongoing argument with the OH really , I forgot I married Mr Right...First name "Always"!!!!). We have been told by "Phillips" that our Plasma will work out there but as for our other things we are not to sure???? Any advice would be great. Also anyone got any recommendations on a good shipping company??

Our telly didn't work, but apparently new ones should.... keep your fingers crossed otherwise it's just a DVD-watching screen!
Fridge may not pass the tests if it's old (CFCs or some such) but again new ones should be ok.
Everything else I can think of should work, you'll just need to switch to aussie plugs. Bring a screwdriver!
(If you search this topic you'll find dozens of previous threads with lots more advice)

)I understand older tellies can be tricky, but you can get them 'chipped'
DVD players, Play Stations and the like can also be tricky unless you have a tri-band, the DVD's or games you bring with you will be ok but the ones you buy/rent here will be a different band, but with a bit of research you can usually find the 'code' to unlock them (they are all made the same, just 'locked' for use in one of the bands)
We used Pickfords, they came and went through the house like a plague of locusts packing everything (including some things I had just put down for a mo, turned round and it was gone!!!) They were great about keeping the load open until we got the last things to them after renting for a couple of months before actually traveling, and handled everything (customs clearance etc) then delivered to the OZ house. They will unpack it all, part or none of the load, up to you, and come back to collect the packing later if you do some yourself. From the contents of a three bedroom house only one glass and one saucer got broken.
Hope that helps
