Yehp.... First British team to win the European Cup. Before Celtic the gap between the UK and Europe was so big it was like an elusive dream. With less than 34 pct of English players in the Premiership, looks like it's heading back that way.

The best thing about that Celtic team was that all of the players were born within a few miles from the ground...that will never happen again with any team!

I spose letting in 5 isn't too bad for a team that plays without goalkeepers.
How about Frank Haffey

There has always been a few great Scottish household names, particuarly in the UK. Whats happened to the Lou Marcaris and Dennis Laws ?
I can also recall when that home international was a close run thing... Plus Scotland qualifying for the World Cup and England missing out.
So currently at present I'd say things are a lot worse.

Yes mate, it's really his. It's on Warwick Rd right near Old Trafford. Its been there for years. I think he opened it when he was still playing for United. Smart move if you ask me as its probably got the biggest, one day turnover, of any chippy in the UK.

Not long afterwards, the Sunday People printed revelations that chairman Brian Hillier had bet on Swindon to lose in an FA Cup match against Newcastle. The Town were beaten 5-0. On 5th January 1989, both Macari and Hillier were charged with unauthorised betting. Hillier was suspended from football for six months (later increased to three years), the club were fined £7,500, and Macari £1,000, for what the FA described as a minor role in a "foolhardy misdemeanour".
