Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Something other than cans of lager.
My bachelor days in the UK seem a distant memory. Zucchini? In MY fridge? How did this occur? |
Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Coke

Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
We moved straight to Darwin so everything was kept in the fridge. Cane toads in the freezer too x

Maybe the batteries needed changing. They hold their charge better when cold. Always keep fresh batteries in the fridge.

Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Reminds me, we really need a new fridge.
Our freezer is up top and the fridge bit down the bottom, I am 6'5" tall and basically almost need to get down on my knees to see what is in the back of the **** thing, which drives my wife crazy as I miss things and ask her where it is, then she pushs me out the way and puts her hand straight on it and walks away muttering something :D I think there is some sour cream in there from an attempted Mexican food night a month or so ago that is now a good few weeks out of date. There is also a rather black looking old carrot that you could bend in to a loop. There is probably a cure for many diseases growing in our fridge :o |
Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Water! Can't abide tepid drinking water out the tap and i go mental when rellies from uk visit and run the tap for half an hr wondering when it's going to turn cold! :sneaky: apart from that not much different to uk except its a much bigger fridge and I use it as storage so I do keep bread and fruit in only as there's space to do so.

Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Putting batteries in the freezer or refrigerator doesn't necessarily prolong their life Alkaline batteries stored at "room temperature" self discharge at a rate of less than two percent per year. So normally refrigerating or freezing them will only help maintain their charge by a tiny amount. Hardly worth the effort of chilling them. However, if alkaline batteries are stored at higher temperatures they will start to lose capacity much quicker. At 85 degrees F they only lose about 5% per year, but at 100 degrees they lose 25% per year. So if you live in a very hot climate or are storing your batteries in a very hot location, it may be worthwhile for you to store your alkaline batteries in a refrigerator instead. NiMH and NiCd batteries self discharge at a MUCH faster rate than alkaline batteries. In fact, at "room temperature" (about 70 degrees F) NiMH and NiCD batteries will self discharge a few percent PER DAY. Storing them at lower temperatures will slow their self discharge rate dramatically. NiMH batteries stored at freezing will retain over 90% of their charge for full month. So it might make sense to store them in a freezer. If you do, it's best to bring them back to room temperature before using them. Even if you don't freeze your NiMH batteries after charging them, you should store them in a cool place to minimize their self discharge. ;) |

Yes, I keep water in the fridge and I didn't in the UK. It's not just because of the need to have cold water but also because of the vile taste of the water here, so I have one of those filter jugs which sit in the fridge door. |

Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
Not much more than in the UK really. Carrots wrapped in foil, as they keep better, and broccoli. If I want to keep tomatoes they go in the fridge until the day before I want them, as it stops them ripening too quickly, but usually they are just in a bowl on the countertop. I do put chocolate in the firidge now though.

Re: What do you keep in the fridge?
I am currently emptying my fridge and replacing its contents with tights, nail polish, batteries, the remote, perfume and all my make up. You can't make this up. WTF?
