What do you keep in the fridge?

When we lived in the UK I'm sure we didn't keep things like jam and fruit in the fridge...

What else do you now keep in the fridge in Australia (because of the warmer weather) that you didn't need to refrigerate in the UK?

Nothing really. This house is relatively cool as is the pantry and we haven't had a problem with bread or fruit going off.

The rellies in Sydney keep their bread and fruit in the fridge and she is quite insistent that I do the same, but other than soft fruit such as berries and grapes, I haven't really had the need to, but they would be kept in the fridge in the UK too.

When we move, this may be a different story:D

Pretty much anything that has been opened - did this in the Uk too. diligent about using it up before opening new ones. I also keep my body cream and face creams in there. Nice and cool to put on after a hot shower

I only keep things in the fridge that ever I used to in Britain. I hate keeping jam in the fridge, I can't bear cold jam on toast. Bread in the fridge ? Not on my watch.

I just don't like open tins of things in the fridge, I try and have good 'stock rotation'.

Cool moisturising lotions can be nice though. Some people put nail varnish bottles in the fridge. I have heard of people putting tights in the fridge

That's why I wouldn't fare very well living in America.

I have no idea what to put in there as I suspect my wife and I have different opinions. To this day I am not sure what should go in there and so I have to check both places to find certain things. I also tend to put the teabags in there, you know mixing things around when on auto-pilot.

Bread - outside. Jam - you name it.

I also put chocolate in there - I like cold chocolate - can't stand it soft - and my wife also likes it hard.

Nothing.

Jam in the pantry, fruit in the fruit bowl, mayonnaise in the fridge, ketchup in the 'Cake Hole' along with the bread - all exactly the same as in the UK.

(Well, I didn't have a pantry in the UK, jam had to languish in a cupboard.)

Food doesn't have time to go off in this house.

The only exception to fruit in the fruit bowl is grapes. Those I hide behind anything I can in the fridge a) because I like cold grapes and b) because I like to give myself a chance to eat cold grapes.

Ketchup, well at least the best, you know the ones WITHOUT being stuffed full of preservatives, should be in the fridge, especially Heinz. Any that can be stored out of the fridge are not worth calling ketchup.

Cold ketchup is a vile abomination. Vinegar is a preservative so no matter which brand you buy it's going to have a level of natural preservative anyway. Tomatoes are also acidic which further aids the natural preservative qualities of ketchup.

Our Heinz ketchup keeps fine in the "Cake Hole" :)

I keep my perfume in the fridge door, it stops it going off with the heat here in Qld,

Everything that I can. Even the nail polish goes in the fridge.

We used to keep our DVD remote in the freezer. It was the only way to make it work. How we worked that out, I can't remember ...

Maybe the batteries needed changing. They hold their charge better when cold. Always keep fresh batteries in the fridge.

(I won't say any more)
