We originally came here on 457 in Sept 2007, then moved on to PR and citizenship earlier this year.
About 18 months or so, my wife and I decided we wanted to take career breaks and spend twelve months or so travelling around Australia. Due to various reasons (mainly changes my work, my family visiting us & deciding to sell the house rather than rent it out), we have kept putting off our plans. About ten weeks ago, we decided that the time was now right and so we put our house up for sale four weeks ago and it sold within a few hours…
We complete on the sale of the house on 30th November and therefore I have advised work that my last day of employment will be 23rd November.
Basically, we are putting all our possessions in store and setting off in our campervan (RV) for what we hope will be a great adventure. We are going to travel clockwise round the coast and if we can, pick up some casual work on the way to help fund trips and excursions. We hope that on our trip we will find somewhere that we will decide to live at the end, at this stage, we probably have in mind that it will be a major regional town but are keeping all our options open…
We have started a website www.travelsroundoz.com for our travels.
Getting a bit excited now!

My Aus Wife is reading your blog now.... It's very rare for her to take notice of stuff I do on the net. She's excited about this prospect..... She'll show me up a bit on the road though as she's very experienced from her very early days at camping and can do all those pully knots and bush camp stuff and very quick at improvising. I still reeling from the embarrassment of 30 years back when I despaired at erecting a tent in very sandy soil.... Of she went to collect rocks and bang in went the pegs between the rocks. I've seen her rig up a pully system out of rope and lift a 44 gallon drum full of water over a fire.

Red_V is back in Europe now I think. So good luck to him in the future and thanks for his terrific blog.
Anyways We went to the lifestyle and leisure show here in Sandown Melbourne today, and there were 100's of different touring vehicles there, mindbending actually.
Wife and I may well be tempted to caravan it rather than motorhome it, was the end result for us. The wife is raring to go. I'm amazed at the living space they can put in a 20 foot caravan and how homely a off road version can actually be... stick a annexe on one and you've definitely got decent portable living quarters.
So thanks to Red V for inspiring us to take a serious look at this lifestyle.
All the best for the future.

Hi All....
Yes, we are living in Germany until end of Feb '14 while we get a new house built on the Sunshine Coast....the company I got a new job with thought it was a good idea and it saved us having to find a rental whilst our new house is built.
