When I first joined I only posted in the Feb 2006 applicants thread for the first little while. Once I got to know a couple of the others there I felt a little more comfortable to post on the other areas. Now I couldn't give a rat's ass if people like my posts or not. I think I'm in life exactly what I'm like here. I try to be helpful because there are lots of times I need help. But, at the same time, don't piss me off because I have not only the body of one but the memory of an elephant.

Better than the other way around:rofl:

BE is a bit like life, people probably respond more to people they like or vehemently dislike. I think it is a great forum, and you are free to chip in when ever you want, if someone gets on your tits or insults you, you can easily ignore them. Like someone else said, if you need help with emigrating then it is the best source of information.

If you dare to suggest people just get on with it, leave their dogs in the UK etc, again, because it's not a popular view, you're unfriendly and uncaring. What people don't seem to realise is that EVERYONE is individual and circumstances reflect differently on each one. The view of 'unfriendly' is a very wide description based on the persons own view of what people are posting here. Just becasue we disagree with each other on many points (as I'm sure we'd all do in real life, not just on here) doesn't make it 'unfriendly', it just shows that the whole microcosm of life is here and you take/give what you want from it. Some posters cannot accept different views from their own (take the MBTTUK forum for example) and this is probably where the view of it being an unfriendly place springs from. Read it all, take what you want, leave the rest would be the moral I think :)

Agreed! I tend to not bother posting when I disagree with something if I think that it would upset people. E.g. if I think someone is being overly sentimental/self-centred/unrealistic I usually would keep that to myself, unless they have expressly asked for opinions (and even then I would usually be very careful about my phrasing). I think a lot of people come to the forums for support, and don't like it when people disagree with them.
However, on the right thread there can be great banter & forum conflict, very entertaining sometimes! Just don't take it to heart! :D

I have to admit that I have only just started posting on here. But t'other half is a 'well established member' (no lewd remarks please!) so to speak!

We have only been in Oz for a few months, and have met some fantastically nice people through this site. There may be times that someone says something that upsets someone else, but for all the ups and downs, it is worth persevering - cause if you make the effort you will make some decent friends from here. And lets face it - in all walks of life there are going to be people that upset you or you don't get along with.

Hello.

Didn't give my identity away with the name did I?!

Thought I better get me-self posting, as I keep having me ear bent from asking to many 'questions' about what's happening on the site! :p

Excellent attitude ... I have the body of a horse and the mind of a Pale-Throated Three-Toed Sloth.

I do have the occasional good thing to say though. In my reincarnation, I've vowed to tell it like it is though. Being true to myself.... ;)

I can think of a few including myself.

You wouldn't believe the number of times I've reined myself back from responding but sometimes I just feel the need to let of steam over stupid posts and if people get upset because I think they've come out with something stupid then tough. I happen to think I'm a really nice person, but probably come across as an argumentative bitch  I know I'm not, I'm just me and tbh if that stresses someone I neither know nor will ever know then it's their problem not mine ;)

Happy clappy doesn't do it for me. Banter, friendliness, arguments, wind ups and consideration in equal measures is more my thing and I think it's all here.

I think it can be a bit like that sometimes on here. It's a fantastic place for support and information and I'd have been completely lost without it, certainly wouldn't have got through TRA and visa application with no agent if I didn't have the advice from this site.

Sometimes it can appear cliquey but really all people need to do is join in :)

There are definitely times when it can be a bit unfriendly but I'd say the times when people help each other far outweigh the ones where they don't.

I totally agree, couldn't have said it any better. :)
