UK curry thread
The purpose of this thread is to simply list a few of your favourite indian restaurants, back in the motherland....
1) the Balti Hut, turnpike lane - classic takeaway curry. Creamy sauce. Cheap. Ideal after 7 pints of london pride. Not particularly great on the waistline.
2) Red Fort, glasgow. Brilliant.
3) Bombay brasserie, Kensington - A bit more of a formal experience. Delicious food and great service.
4) Samrat, Crouch end - They did some pretty hot curries in there. Good thing they had some cold beer on tap.
5) Raj 2, London city- Classic british indian best enjoyed with plenty of lager. And washed down with a free shot of Kir after you've paid up.

Shapla - Southdown Road, Harpenden
British Raj - Royston (not sure if it's in the same hands but it was top 10 in my bible 'The Curry Club' Magazine in the late 80s.

My all time favourite (had forgotten the name) was The Akash on the bottom left hand corner of Leicester Square. I spent hundreds of lunchtimes there between 1979 and 1985 and I can still smell and taste the food and visualise the table we always had - superb. I'm now dribbling - thanks for that
