The Trumpmare is happening... Who will win?

Re: The Trumpmare is happening... Who will win?
Australia is a high tax country and it needs to be reduced
Corporate taxes need to come down to stimulate investment
Personal income tax needs to come down to stimulate spending - consumption taxes can be increased to cover the shortfall and reduce overall debt
Government spending needs to be reduced - welfare, red tape and the number of civil servants must be cut
Do this and Australia will punch to the next level of prosperity. Do nothing and our standard of living will decrease

That's the thing though, the left need to stay true to themselves and not lie, or tell half truths. They have zero integrety at this moment in time as all they do is move to the right in an effort to gain popularity. If you want to know what's really biting traditional labour supporters, it's their total disregard for the reason for their very existance. They need to stand firm for the little guy again.
If you are referring to New Labour as 'moving to the right' in an effort to gain popularity then what's wrong with changing with the times and what's wrong with being in power for a long time when the UK had arguably it's most prosperous times - certainly compared to the Thatcher/Major years before and the Cameron years after. Until Labour get rid of Corbyn they will never, ever get back in power and you can't 'stand firm for the little guy' in opposition can you?
Now Trump is certainly doing a very good show of little integrity through exaggeration and half truths wouldn't you say? Turnbull's popularity is falling and in the UK we've got a new PM who was a Remainer replacing a Remainer to look after the Brexit. Principled? (no I couldn't possibly take the job I was for Remain did the lady say?)

A bit of Twitter trouble for Donald:

You said in the world - exaggeration, lies.
https://www.ato.gov.au/General/New-l...rate-tax-rate/
"In the 2016–17 Budget, the Government announced that it will reduce the corporate tax rate progressively from 30 per cent to 25 per cent." This is below the weighted average for the whole world!!
The turnover threshold to qualify for the lower rate will start at $10 million and progressively rise until the 27.5 per cent rate applies to all corporate tax entities subject to the general company tax rate in the 2023–24 income year. ALL BUSINESSES will have this lower rate in time.
You peddle the sort of pish a Coalition politician would use to claim big tax cuts for business and higher income earners are needed.

The problem with lying in the public eye is it's both difficult to keep the story straight, and out of the public eye. People pay attention.
At the moment he's trying to brazen it out, but as more and more of his advisers fall to 'discussions' with russia; it becomes more and more obvious that he's a fair weather traitor.
The only question is how long it takes a GOP rep to say that publicly. The 'T' word will stick in their throat, but it's fairly obvious by now, and both the press and the intelligence community smell blood.
And unlike Nixon, I don't think he's got the wit to resign.

I'm not sure if you are referring to Labour (UK) or Labor (Australia) or even Democrats (USA)? Obviously 'zero integrity' is an exaggeration or half truth in itself. You could say Corbyn remains true to the original origins of the Labour Party but it's precisely why his and Labour's popularity has plummeted i.e. he remains true to old principles and circumstances.
If you are referring to New Labour as 'moving to the right' in an effort to gain popularity then what's wrong with changing with the times and what's wrong with being in power for a long time when the UK had arguably it's most prosperous times - certainly compared to the Thatcher/Major years before and the Cameron years after. .... and it might mean Australians join the lack of free movement too. They currently require some EU countries to get a visa.
See what happens when leftist principles go too far. The world revolts. The EU is a dead man walking.
PS. Not really sure how you can say New Labour was a success. The last election confirmed its death.

..... and meanwhile, the EU is falling apart. The foundation of free movement is being turned on its head and is now being sent back across the ditch.

Is it? I've already said I have a good laugh at the left and their agonising. There's people who make a good crust out of it, it would appear... It's pointed out by many a commentator that many a journo is establishment yet peddles this angst. By the way, I made a mistake about corporate taxation.

Trump is now accusing Obama of wiretapping Trump towers.
Obama is water-skiing with Branson.

Its currently 30% for everyone else sport. Half details - or doesn't that suit your agenda?
https://www.ato.gov.au/general/new-l...rate-tax-rate/
https://www.ato.gov.au/general/new-l...rate-tax-rate/
It's marginal rate of corporate tax for business is being progressively reduced from a certain level for businesses under $2 mill threshold to businesses with $10 mill threshold to the same for all businesses while the rate is reduced to 25%. The Coalition proposes to have a marginal rate going down to 25% for every business whilst at this very moment it's already sitting below/around world average marginal rates.

Food stamps can be viewed as a society which does something about those on incomes low enough to qualify for help. As we know, a person who would qualify for food stamps would be a 'millionaire' in most other countries of the world but poverty and low incomes is relative to the people around you. Increasing the base rate of income tax from 10 to 12% is hardly helping is it? (well it's helping fund tax cuts for those at the top end as the analysis of Trump's tax plans showed).
I'm not saying the suffering isn't real or anything. I guess if Trump lies and provides half truths if you wish time after time after time the point is - 'make America great again', 'revive dying industries', eliminate islamic terrorism, stop the Mexicans etc will probably turn out to be exaggerations as well. Trump is rapidly becoming Pinocchio whose nose gets bigger and bigger with each lie.
The President has limited executive power under the Constitution for good reason - it would be a dictatorship otherwise. What the President can and can't do by himself and what has to go through Congress is very important.

You are quite right, Congress has power in the American system, and I have no doubt the Congress will hamper Trump as much as they did Obama.
