Thanks for all the wishes & congrats, also to those who sent Karma It is sinking in a bit now. I've also been to Centrelink to find out about how to get child benefit. I said we "recently" got PR. I thought I better not say "we got PR 45 minutes ago and here I am"

We understood that we have to live here for 4 years before we can apply for citizenship, altho haven't really looked into it properly as all focus has been on achieving PR! Is it only 3 years? I don't like not being able to vote! Not that there are great choices but it would be nice to know I at least have a voice

No, it's still 4 years. Because you mentioned you started the journey 6 years ago, I assumed you'd been here for that long. My mistake. If you've only been here 2 years, then you still have to wait 2 more.

Ah no lol 6 years since deciding to to it - 4 years of jumping thru various hoops and waiting in UK - then 2 years here working toward PR! A rather long journey....but sooo worth it

As for citizenship it is 4 years- we will reach that milestone in August, so have just sent for the booklet to start revising.

Maybe I will send off for mine too, start getting ready ahead of time
