Sydney prices

I browsed the food prices at Woolworths today.... Yikes! A medium sized jar of Nescafe = 8 UKP, a lettuce = 2 UKP. Everything seemed to be twice the UK price!:eek::eek::eek:

...And elsewhere a "chock ice" iced lolly = $4.50

I've taken a cursory look at that already and it doesn't look good. So the progress update so far is I'm going on a massive diet, will take strongly to "grow your own" and will invest in a two-seater sidecar for my motorbike . ....Next?

Well, for today at least, I have to agree with the folks who say the butcher is cheaper than Woolies... lamb chops were $45 a kilo in Woolies and they were only $42 a kilo at the butchers..... bargain !

I think the cost of the flight to Brisbane is likely to negate any savings I might make. :)

Australia isn't as cheap as it used to be infact anyone who moves here thinking it's cheap in terms of housing, food, clothes etc is kidding themselves:unsure:

It's just a different kind of life. Same shit, shinier bucket -that's all:)

Enjoy your time here mate and great that you are gaining a realistic perspective;)

I have been "reliably" informed that the price of lamb will go up significantly this year too...
