Surviving the teenage years .....

The terrible twos were blissful. This is the hard bit:eek:

How exactly can you offend someone by pointing out the dogs need exercise and if your on school hols you surely have time.

Teen had major drama moment phones friend says he is under siege, a hurricane has gone off:confused: maybe he saw his room  then announces he is leaving home for his sanity.

Humour me with your teens finest moments cause its too early for wine.

To the childless reading this, you had a lucky escape:lol:

Its almost 5pm now - go on, have a bevvy :)

I've survived the previous 10 years of teenagerdom (including the horrific pre-pubescent stage) by zoning the [deleted] [deleted] [deleted] out.

Youngest is almost 17, so hopefully I only have 2 and a bit more years to suffer through.

Mind you, Himself will probably be going through his midlife crisis by then.

My 16 year old is in year 11 and has told me that when she finishes school she is not going straight to Uni as she wants to go to Europe in the first semister. I've told that's fine but while she's not in education then she has to pay housekeeping. Well, she can't believe that a mother would charge their child to live at home etc, etc.... So she said she is moving out  She will only be 17 1/2 but I've told her that's fine by me, and if she can find a place for $100 a week where she will have a bed, get all her food and washing etc then please let me know 'cos I want to come too!!!

I also have the problem with the dog walking, cleaning up after the dog etc. Jad n Rich - I think our kids go to the same school - maybe they should meet up to walk their dogs!!! I also sell wine if you're ever in need!

Oldest Daughter... who was a teenager well into her Twenties, if you know what I mean. Was left looking after our youngest two whilst we both worked nights. She used to have a sleeping problem so would be up in the early hours.

We live opposite quite a large carpark near the old Pentridge prison. Which occasionally attracts car loads of youths. Oldest Daughter is out the front of our house at 3.30 am ish having a fag.... and takes exception to the 3 or 4 car loads of Lebanese youths across the road playing music and fooling around...... and lets out with "Keep it quiet you Lebo bastards" or something similar. As we all know they Lebanese Youths like being told what to do... especially in an offensive way and by a Female.

Consequently our house starts to be pelted with rocks. bits of metal and anything else they can get their hands on.... all the time our younger two aged 5 and 3 at the time are asleep in front bedrooms. Cops turn up and a battle ensues out the front of our house. Arrests are made, Daughter gets interviewed, we arrive home and survey the damage, which wasn't too bad mostly dents in the front of the house. No broken windows amazingly. . Hell were we annoyed with our daughter for provoking them. Luckily they never came back... or if they did they didn't bother us. We always made sure 2nd oldest daughter was always home to keep an eye on all the others from that point on.

I think they may be on to something there.

They must know each other:lol: hes also now moving out with kids from school and needs a gap year.

He got really peed off this weekend cause we were supposed to be going away, but partner got man flu: so now Ive wrecked his weekend:rolleyes:.

Further to upset him I suggested a haircut, his hair which was justin beiber style long before anyone heard of him, is now down to his nose, he constantly flicks the head so he can see:rolleyes:. He expects me to let him drive like that so I have asked for a $3700 bond, the insurance excess if he has a accident while looking so idiotic, I mean cool.

Yes.

Just make sure you give a false address so they can't bring them back :)

Given puberty can hit them as early as nine these days, I'd not be hanging around:lol:

You're probably right on that too, Jad (definitely not Rich as men don't forward-plan). The elder monster, oh, I mean, angel, is only 5 1/2 and is about to lose her second milk tooth. The Tooth Fairy had to visit 2 years earlier than planned! :sneaky:

Mine, all boys, were quite nice till 16/17 I thought I had a lucky escape:rolleyes: my mate with 3 girls, similar ages, were going off like hormonal banshees, screaming, running away, slapping people, telling the parents to die!!! the works:eek: was amazed at the difference in boys.....

Then they turn 16 and the big male dominance/hormone thing kicks in, with teen attitude:eek: Talk about smart arsed.

The youngest is only 14 so I probably have Psycho 3 to endure yet...

BTW warning:D moving to australia does not cure this problem.

Kooky. Jul 11th 2011 12:14 am

Re: Surviving the teenage years .....

Well I thought moving to Australia DID solve the problems for me, but today all it meant was that it was 3.40am our time when my 16 year-old niece called me in hysterical tears and asking me to "talk to (her) Mam" and sort something out. :sneaky:

We are all unreasonable demanding bastards.

Just the other day I was reprimanded for not hand washing a new top.

I have to nag to have the (teens own) dog fed.

I think there is potential for new life forms among the bedroom debris.

Arising at midday is an early start.

No one else has parents as strict as me.

No one else knows what they want to do after grade 12.

Everyone else spends 9 hours on facebook.

Everyone else has parents who bought them their own new car on turning 17.

No one else is expected to do a chore round the house - ever.

One that really gets me, is grade 12, no HOMEWORK. EVER!

Did I mention the hair:rolleyes: currently banned from driving my truck as his fringe/bangs is past his nose, he cant see but !!! The ladies find that sexy apparently.

Stop screaming!! teenage description of parent using normal speaking voice or polite request.

AND

One just told me I would be more chilled if I got more sex :lol:

Hard not to laugh, thinking of hiring some hugely hung male black escort and thumping round the sofa with him just as they arrive home:lol:

Very reassuring to know that others are having similar experiences! (Not the male escort alas!:D)

Recent questions from the 17yr old enquiring mind that is my eldest son;
Why have I got no clean boxers? Err, because they are all on the floor in your room perhaps?
When are you going to do some ironing, I've got no t-shirts!? Perhaps you could iron one yourself seeing as you have not expended any energy whatsoever during the last 2 weeks!!! To which I got the reply that staying in bed until lunchtime & playing playstation all afternoon is in fact hard work!!!! Gee, I know nothing!

Roll on the end of year 12 & the reality of having to work for a living finally hits!

You just can't win with all these wonderful parents out there that their friends all have! They have more money to spend on the little darlings(well that is not hard!)don't care what their children are up to,care more now how the last two go together I don't know:confused:

My 14 year old wants clothes washed for the camp she is going on.I said I will wash them on Wednesday when the weather is meant to be better. She informed my I should get a dryer which I replied maybe I could have if her camp had not cost us $150!She is full of helpful advice like that.

Though she does have her good points like starting her first job soon and offered us her first wage bless her not that we would dream of taking it.

Re: Surviving the teenage years .....

Oh no don't say it just gets worse, my 12 year old has fully embraced his teenage years a year too early and loves to flounce out of rooms, slamming doors and telling us all how life is so unfair... He starts high school In January and honestly he doesn't have enough common sense to even make it to the bus stop, god knows where he is gonna end up each morning but his attitude will get him somewhere no doubt.

He made me laugh the other day, he was convinced his voice was breaking and was quite indignant when I laughed and told him " not that is just the hiccups!" more slamming of doors ......:D

Guess I've been lucky, in that my 15 yr old only had mild teenage symptoms at present, though seems to be increasingly deaf or forgetful when asked to do something. Hope she is not a late developer and will not get to the full flung hormonal stuff until she leaves home.

She is very good at giving "looks", though they are less effective now she has plucked her monobrow into feminine arches.

Late developer I'd say, based on experience, soreeey:lol:

The monobrow on the male teen is a real problem, they wont pluck. And how much body hair do they have:eek: occasionally they shave something non facial, and leave the clippings on the bathroom floor.

Similar for me.

Dad have you sorted the washing out yet?
Yes apart from that little pile of Tshirts and underwear over there.
That's not all mine.
No, but I don't know which is yours and which is your brothers so every other item is likely to be yours. Try looking through it.

They are cute when they are little.:p

Our 4 year old never had terrible twos but I have already started telling her that she has an attitude problem. (try explaining attitude to a 4 year old).

Generally she is a good girl, but I am thinking of leaving home in 7-8 years, if this is what I have to look forward to!
