Re: Summer equals grumpy.
I hate winter. Summer is great, although can get a little warm over 40 degrees. (I have to jump into my pool which is currently around 18 degrees- instant hypothermia.) Because of various medical conditions I have lost the ability to properly regulate my body temperature, so it is a fine line between the circulation shutting down and the MS kicking in. Summer is always better as I don't feel like hibernating, and don't get chillblains!

Yep, we're grumpy in Mellie because of no sun...... It keeps teasing us with the odd nice day and then today we are back to ark building. It's been raining solid since the middle of the night :(

I like mid 20's for the summer, once it gets into the 30's it is horrible.
The winters are milder. It still gets cold, but it's rare to see frost. |

Agree. Albeit, the part of NZ where I live gets to 25 to 30 degrees Centigrade in the summer. Probably more on occasion during the summer but personally, I don't find it much hotter than where we lived in S.E. England.

Re: Summer equals grumpy.
Cold, cloudy, wet.
It didn't even make it to 15C in Melbourne today. It only got to 11.5C in Ballarat. Parts of southern Victoria have had 80-100mm of rain in the past two days, including the Mornington Peninsula. There has been snow up in the higher VIC/NSW/TAS mountains in recent days. I don't remember the last spring with so few warm and sunny days. We usually get some cold days and cool spells and its still fairly wet up to this time of year, but it's normally mixed in with a lot more warm and sunny days. Only 2 and a half weeks until summer but you wouldn't know it except for the fact it's not fully dark until well after 8pm here atm. |
Re: Summer equals grumpy.

Re: Summer equals grumpy.
Beautiful day here in Sydney, blue sky 25 degrees, and joy of joys, my OH has finally paid for me to have a gardener come in for 5 hours to do all the heavy digging/pruning that I can't manage.

Yes, it's horrible isn't it? I whinge all Summer but I seriously find it hard to function in this weather. People who like the heat just don't get it.

Not the heat though is it, it is the humidity that gets you. 32C and low humidity is more comfortable than say 25c and 90% humidity. Thankfully it only really gets humid in Sydney from Feb - March time. Feb is the worst month of the year in Sydney - usually humid and wet.

Re: Summer equals grumpy.
Don't come to Mellie Caroline, you'll seize up! I topped up my Vit D levels in the UK over the Oz winter and I think they are thoroughly depleted now.
My hubby is fed up with me being fed up with the weather! Although I can guarantee the weather will perk up the minute I will have a full time work on, I'm in a lull at the moment and have got time to go the beach if only the flipping sun would stay out! There is a rumour Monday might be nice and warm but then back to 13 degrees :( |

I don't mean that flippantly and I know its never that simple, but down here on the Illawarra coast we very rarely get scorchers and humidity never seems to be a real serious issue. We got to 24.9c here today and 29% humidity at that time. That's a fairly average day here at this time of year. |
Re: Summer equals grumpy.
When Summer does come to Mellie it is nice, it's a dry heat and we don't often get more than 2 40 degrees in a row. I remember they freaked out when we had 4 in a row 4 years ago!
It's just a shame about the winter though although they said this year wasn't cold (was to me!) it was very dark, wet and throughly miserable. They say us Brits moan about the weather but the locals are just as bad if not worse! I think the hardest thing at the moment in Mel is the up and down, one day it's summer and then back to winter. Last week I had a summer dress on and yesterday winter jumpers. Plays havoc with headaches, sinuses and general wellbeing. Ideally I'd summer here and then be elsewhere for the other 8 months....now isn't that what I said about England :) |
