Cheers guys, the house sold WAY quicker than we thought it would! But rather that than still be sat here in 6 months waiting!
Allied haven't given us a written quote as yet, still waiting for it. But the lady who came out said depending on what option we choose - container or boxes will obvious depend on the price, anywhere from £700 - £1000. I have no idea if that is a lot, or just a 'normal' price. We are not taking any furniture, just toys, personal belongings - clothes, shoes, dvds, photos, etc etc. Basically things that won't fit into our cases, but we can't leave behind! Also playing with the idea of OH's tools. I'll look into the companies you have mentioned, did you two just contact them via the web? Do they come & see you in person? Kristy, how are you getting on with your plans? They came to the house. We are taking just about everything, except fridge, oven and dishwasher so we are taking a full container for around 3500. but we do live in a 4 bed house and have 3 kids and a hoarding husband. So a few bits for a £1000 seems quite a bit. Don't let me put you off, but we used them when we went to live in Singapore and they weren't great. Just make sure that you insure yourselves properly. As we must have missed the fine details and they didn't replace like for like. but that was 5 years ago and i am sure these happen with any company. |

Yeah just waiting for the pcc checks as I said, it's so annoying as every day I'm waiting for the postie and every day there is nothing from the police! I know I can send the application off now, but I'd rather wait for the police checks really. Would be great to meet up in Aus! I think my OH will get home sick to be honest, he's a big football fan and I think he will miss that the most!! I think you've got my e-mail address yes? |

anyone know then if its likely that I will have to get Aussie police checks having been there for a year on a working visa and then on holiday 3 times for 3 weeks per time?
If so - has anyone else had to do it and how do you go about getting them? |

Well we had the police checks today! There are a couple of things on there which we were suspecting but still it's not nice to see it on paper I guess.
I just feel incredibly sick tonight as I'm so nervous about everything. I seriously can't describe the feeling besides it being awful - and we've not even applied yet :( I don't know if it's doubts, worry or what!! Charb - I've got your e-mail, will send you one now chick x |

I worry about it being a big hassle for people to have to fill out stat decs and get certified copies of their passports and all of those things, its just all a bit hard!! And its very much in the planning stages for me so still a long way to go! Chin up, you are nearly there! |

Just to let you know that the stat decs I sent just had photocopied pages of their passports - I didn't get them certified by anyone - & my OH's visa was granted no probs. In fact, I didn't get anything certified at all - all our passports/bank statements etc were originals, sent recorded delivery. HTH ! |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
I would send off for your ozzie police checks as my husband was there 4 days short of a year on a working holiday visa in 1998 and now that is all we are waiting for, they go to canberra and can take uo to 30 days to process and cost $36, we are still waiting ......
But thats all australia house have requested as extra information which i suppose is good and they wanted the check within 49 days. |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
hi,
thought i'd write my progress to date, any comments will be gladly welcomed. i sent our police checks away today i have spoken to ex hubby who will not put any barriers in our way, so i have just to contact my lawyer (who is on holiday:frown: ) to conjure up some agreement re daughter. i have written my statement, oh has started his stat decs are sent to Oz for completion evidence of relationship is growing by the day. medicals still to be arranged. my head is actually bursting with things to arrange once the visa is agreed, like selling up, handing in notice to work etc, one thing we have been working on is how much cash we will need to set up and live on for say 6 months, our estimate is £1,000 a month living expenses with set up costs of approx £10,000 to include all household stuff, plus a runaround car etc, we also have to account for transporting the cat:sneaky: and our flights (3 adults) - anyone think of anything else or have different figures in mind:confused: |
Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!
Hello! Can I join please?
I am British, husband is an Aussie due to various loopholes closing up during his life which means he has no claim to be a Brit (Aah what a shame!) He was born in Australia and came back when he was 4. We have a daughter and are SERIOUSLY thinking of giving Queensland a go (yes another Brissie fan!). We are going out for a reccie in the Summer for 3 weeks and having read this thread thought it may be as well to apply for spouse visa now in the hope that it is approved and then we can validate it on reccie. BUT I have a couple of questions......surprise surprise! We have very little evidence of joint things as we have 1 joint bank account but it is for rainy day money - we've kept quite independent financially (lazy as we are and I like to spend guilt free! ;) ). Also all bills are in one or t'other's name. Hhhmmm. We have an Aussie that can do one stat dec. really well. If the others are VERY close family (including one who lived in Australia for about 8 years) but not actually Aussie is that ok? I have read the forms honest, but I'm getting brain ache! (Now I know how my pupils feel!) Last one - promise!! Once validated, how long is the visa ok for? Just cos we're not sure when exactly we're going!! Thanks for any help/advice, just chat!! Itigo xx |
