Sorry to be a bit slow on the response about the stat declarations, but i put in 3 altogether, 2 from australians with stat decs. and copies of passport that were witnessed by a solicitor. I believe this is the minimum requirement, and as they were my mum and step dad i thought it might look a bit biased so i asked my husbands parents to do one also. They just got theirs witnessed by a solicitor (as there is one in the family luckily) but didnt bother with photocopies of passports, but i dont think it is legally recognised as a proper stat dec. by i thought it would be useful as it shows what the other side of the family think. And as australia house has only asked for the ozzie police check as extra info this must have been okay.

We were thinking of me going back first and husband following in a months time but not sure if we'd both have to enter Aus together (as I'm the Aussie) so was wondering the same Q. Not sure if we will be doing it like this now though as thinking of having a 3 day stop over.

We're going to Northern Brissie and all. used to live in Bracken Ridge but will be going to Petrie way most prob.

its really good to know of other people who are going through the whole proces and all. cant wait to get back to brissy. im hoping that as the children and I are all australian citizens that it will only be my husband that needs to enter oz by a certain time. if not im going to be gutted as i really had my heart set on being in australia for christmas

Hey dont worry it will only be the visa holder that will have a date to validate, you aussie passport holders can come and go as you please!!! as my OH keeps telling me!!!
But dont forget it will only be the visa holder who will be entitled to the extra baggage allowance when you emigrate should you need it.
BTW we loved Brisbane. C x

what scares me is the threads about people not being ableto find work....seems quite frightening. And to be honest, looking at the price of houses, we will not be able to afford as nice a house as we have here in the Uk in the city suburbs in Brisbane.....have been looking at realestate.com.au and it just seems to be sooooooooooooo pricy, a 5 bed house with a pool is over a million!! I have three kids and want people to be able to come and stay so I need 5 bedrooms!! Help, where will I live!!! Hubby wont be more than 30 mins out of the CBD by rail.........any ideas anyone...........prefers to be northside due to sis living in Windsor.

Cheers

I've been looking on that website also Rachel and I'm suprised at how much the house prices have gone up (both to buy and rent) since I left in 2002!! Although I'm looking for houses further North than you - Petrie/North Lakes way and I think they are a tad cheaper.

I just can't wait to get back to things that are familiar to me, and most of all I want to see how big Chermside shopping centre is now as my sister tells me it's double the size that it was before!!!

hi Rachel, why dont you think about moving further out. we used to live in
albany creek which is really nice but no train line only bus. what about moving a little further down the train line. mitchelton etc. last time i went home, there were lots of houses being revamped and becoming quite trendy.

Hi everyone,
Im new to this site but thought id introduce myself.
My name is liz (if you hadnt already guessed) and im the pom half of the marriage. I met my hubby brett when he was over here on a 2 year working visa. I then went over to aus this time last year to visit him and he came back over for me. We got married last june and plan to move back to melbourne next february.
He's a nurse and i will be (hopefully) in september once i finish my training.
I was introduced to this site by one of my colleagues sylvia who (lucky git) is moving to victoria this year with her family.
i find myself in the same situation as many other newly qualified nurses that out extremely cash-strapped NHS cant offer me a job and am therefore following my other half around the world in search of a job and better quality of life!
