ok ive been asked to get an australian police check done. says on the for that you have to pay $32.73 (weird ammount!) by cheque or money order. Now, I dont have an australian cheque book and a british cheque will be no good to them i assume, and by money order, can that be a postal order? I dont know how to pay for it!

thanks
hi - i had to get an aussie police check. I got an international postal reply coupon from the post office (pretty cheap). You have to send one with the application to cover their return postage. I asked at my bank (Barclays) about a money order as I had the same problem as you re paying by cheque. The cost of a money order was extortionate!!! I ended up asking my OH's mum to post me an aussie dollar chq for that amount so I could send it in with the form.

an international postal reply coupon? never heard of it! just checked and its not mentioned on the form anywhere.

getting my OH's mum to send us a cheque is not an option unfortunately, we just dont have the time.. it would probably take them a week to do it!

there must be a faster way around this, surely.. hopefully i can pay by cc over the phone! I think ill wait till midnight and give the helpline a call. thanks!

you could send the form to your OH's mum and she could send it on to the relevant place enclosing a chq. that would only take one extra day if she express posts it in oz.
i did mine in dec/jan - it def said somewhere on the form or covering info that you have to enclose a stamped address envelope for the police check to be returned to you - and if you were overseas this should be an international reply coupon

you must be SO relieved and excited - you had quite a long wait - were your medicals/police checks frontloaded? did they ask for any extra info in that time?

Hi there,

No we didn't frontload the medical but we did send the police checks with the application. When we recieved the acknowledgement email it said who our case officer was, file number and also requested further information which was highlighted below, so I was scanning down the email and it was only medical requested, they wanted nothing else from us.

So we did the medical on the 1st of May and got the email today!! I am so happy right now!! I can't wait for you all to get this feeling because its incredible!! If I can help anyone in any way just let me know, will be happy to answer anything if I know the answer!!

Fingers crossed for you all! Going to celebrate now!!!

I celebrated your visa by eating a chocolate chip cookie! I'm on a diet and been good for months!!!

I gave my application to Australia House on Wednesday last week. I'm applying for a de facto visa and even though it hasn't been a full week, I am so impatient as my fiance just moved into a place he found for us in Toorak, Melbourne today. I want to be there too!!!

We're going the de facto route as I did not want to rush to settle in and plan a wedding in 9 months.

I gave them soooooo much last week, that the guy actually gave me some back...oh well...fingers crossed now!!!

Well done CAZW1405! Congratulations! Wish you the very best.

I sent my application in on 07/04, got an acknowledgement by email on the 17/04. Had my medicals done on the 28/04 but they were not sent to Australia House until last Friday 09/05. Police checks were forwarded on the 29/04.

Have been wondering how they let you know and have had my mobile on my desk at work right in front of me and checking it every few minutes for missed calls. With the maths for your case in mind we should hopefully hear at the end of next week. Permanent visa would be nice!!!

When do you plan to go!

Hope you enjoyed the champagne!!
