Two things worried me about living in OZ....
Snakes and spiders.
So I chose NZ instead.
After 6 years there, snakes and spiders seem tame in comparison.

PS Still waiting to see a spider and a snake and been through lots and lots of nature reserves since getting here and seen.......ziltch!

ok so we're half way through the application, suitcases getting packed and now i have cold feet!!!! am worrying about everything and even have irrational fear that spiders are gonna be jumping out from every hole to kill me and the kids! We are looking to move to brisbane suburbs near coast , most prob redcliffe.... will i really have to check every bed and wardrobe for the killer ones, keep thinking girlies willbe playing in sandpit one minute and rushing to hospital the next! am i truely mad????

I think we used to get more spiders in the house in Scotland! Most of them that do come in the house are no different looking to average UK spiders. In four years I'd say I've averaged about one scary large huntsman incident per year....maybe if it had happened more I'd have got over it by now but as it stands they still freak me out!

Brisbane's eastern suburbs, particularly those on the bayside, are well known for the 'aranogiganticus'; quite literally 'gigantic spider' or as its refered to by the locals 'sweet baby Jesus, will ya look at the size of that'.
