This one was spotted by my kids today on our veranda, we think it's just a tree snake and not dangerous.....the woman over the road reckons she had a 12 foot python in her garden!

Saw this little fellow in the garden the other day. Didn't know what type it was but after looking in the 'Wildlife of Greater Brisbane' book it looks like it is a Keelback (freshwater) snake. It is non venomous thank goodness, as the cat was trying to play with it later on.

Best to put your googles on and look at the wood rather than touch and avoid wood piles and long grass...

my cat loves bringing home snakes for us to see, she brought us home a lovely very angry taipan last year and this year she brought us home 2 brown snakes...we lived right by the river at the time.
Now live in a more populated area so hoping that we don't get so many....

So do you prefer population to river?
She must be down quite a few lives by now.

The first snake my cat brought me home wasn't too impressed with being dumped at our doorstep...got so upset that its head fell off
(with a little help!)
It wasn't til afterwards that I realised that I had been in contact with a taipan...apparantly all the colour drained from me.
Gotta love the cat though, she must have used about 4 lives in the last 2yrs!
