Hi,
Found this in the pool a couple of days ago, not on your list of options, not sure if it is a snake or a legless lizard, (preferably the latter), anyone know? We live in the Perth Hills if that helps

I think you need to get over your legless lizard fantasy looks well and truly like a snake to me.

The black head & copper coloured body make it look like a Western Brown pretty venomous breed:eek:

Looking at the previous link it's a dead ringer for a Gould's Hooded Snake or a Goldfields Hooded Snake

Yup... it definitely looks that way, better that than a western brown or dugit... maybe i might be a bit more careful rummaging around in the undergrowth

This is Australia, as a result, there are very few snakes of the harmless variety....

I have never seen any snakes here in Melb since I came here (7 years now) nor have I seen any big spiders, insects etc. thought there would be loads when I moved over but have been quietly surprised that there hasn't been :p

I read about that woman who let her cat out and it became lunch for a python. Dont know which part of Australia that was.

Let's have a contest - Perth Vs QLD and who has the biggest snake?

I saw this python in QLD Botanical gardens last year...

If you work on the size of a breeze block he was a big boy pushing 10 foot when at full stretch. Bet he could eat a dog or two.
