Forget diets. Eat healthy food with the occasional treat.
Eliminate junk or processed food. I never eat junk at home. Not in years.
EXERCISE!!! EXERCISE is the only thing that works.
If you have bad genes you're stuffed anyway(!)

There's a diet kicking around the www called the Heart Foundation Diet (or something similar, but it's not endorsed by the BHF). Anyway, doing that, it's claimed you can lose 10lbs in 3 days. You can only do it around once a week though as it's pretty severe.
Do a google on British Heart Foundadtion Diet and you'll find it. It's the one which has you eating TUC biscuits, green beans, beetroot, tuna and ice cream for three days

Apart from anything else, it's impossible to lose 10lb of fat in three days. It's not clinically possible unless you're going to have a limb amputated.

I've never been fatter than i am now
I weigh nearly 11 stone
Which is alot for me.
You'd think i'd lose lots running around after 3 kids but I have probly put more on
. Trouble is I find it hard to get time without being hassled by one or more of my 3 kids to do something healthier for myself so I tend to pick something easier and maybe less healthy, I try not to binge on choccy very much and I have cut right down to 4 small bars a week.
Also this time of year gives me little insentive to freeze my arse off get frostbite in the name of excercise.
Feeling like a miserable beached whale and this time round can't even blame it on being pregnant.
I'll have whale poachers after me next cause I can pinch alot more than an inch of cellulite off each hip and arse cheek. I'll have 10 chins next and be able to hide food in the rolls of skin

Ast, the basic premis of losing weight is that you have to burn more calories than you put in, creating a deficit and providing you don't have a medical condition which will stop you losing weight, then you shouldn't have any problems.
So, stop alcohol, apart from the odd lc beer if you want. I mean one or two a week.
Lower your fats, but don't cut them out completely as you need them for brain function and metabolising vitamins.
Eat waaaaay more veg than you normally would...
Make sure each serve of protein is about the size of a cassette tape (not a VHS!)
Cut back/cut out starchy carbs, such as sugar in coffee, potatoes, white bread. Your basic rule is if it's processed, and made from flour, cut them right back. No doughnuts, cakes, biscuits, etc.
Dressing for salads from olive oil is fine.
And for every meal, or snack, eat a protein and a veg. The protein helps you feel full, and the veg helps make the protein last longer in the gut.... keeping your energy up.
As a basic rule, look at your plate when you put your dinner on it and split it into triangles in your head. Veg should fill two thirds of that plate, protein one third.
Plans to recommend:
Atkins gets a slating but only because people do the first two weeks over and over making themselves ill. People who slam Atkins usually haven't read the whole plan and have never got through the first induction. Atkins recommends you eat a lot of protein and fats in the first two weeks to satiate your hunger and get you out of the habit of eating all the time, and it works. He recommends after the first two weeks you move onto the next phase where you increase your carbohydrates so that you're still losing weight but not too fast. Also, more variety in your diet, so stops you going off it. All I can say is 'Read the Book!'. Eating eggs and bacon for every meal is not doing Atkins!
The South Beach Diet... Like Atkins with 'good fats' so Dr Agaston says, though the only 'bad fat' you really need to avoid are 'trans fats' from processed food. Saturated fats get a very bad rap, but they are essential in small amounts, for your health. Info is on the net if you care to google.
The SB diet recommends more whole grain, and is lower in fats than Atkins.... plus you can have a drink of wine with your meal when you want.
This plan's a no brainer... he tells you what and how much to eat for every meal... just follow the pages.
Essentially, you need to exercise to create more of a calorie deficit. A 10 minute very fast walk will do it, once or twice a day is enough.... You need to make your heart pound whilst you're doing it.....
Hope that helps. I'm sure you know what you have to do, it's just doing it. But yes, perfectly possible to lose that weight in 6 weeks.... you'll be aiming for about 2lb per week which is fine.

Wake up, squeeze a lemon into some warm water, drink it then make wild love to the OH.
Walk to work, take only fruit, walk home at lunch time, make wild love to the OH.
Walk back to work, only drink water, when your done, walk home, throw the OH on the bed, and....yep you guessed it, make wild love to her.
That night, eat a meagre supper of rice cakes, celery, tomatoes and honey, (you will need the energy) and take your OH to bed and take her to the stars and back.
Do this every day for 6 weeks and i can guarantee that you will lose a shed load!
The OH may be knackered but at least it will shut her up for a bit!
What do you think?

Interesting reading this.
I am looking to lose around 10 kilos.
I intend to do this by cutting out all the crap I eat but not alcohol, at least not on weekends.
I plan on doing 40 minutes a day of bike work or weights mixed in with some sit ups, press ups etc.
I will let you know how I go.
