Its not a popular diet anymore, but it is working for me - Atkins. In two weeks I have lost 14 pounds (1 stone). Weight loss is dramatic in the first couple of weeks due to the strict regime. You can continue this regime to continue the rapid weight loss. I was 238lbs, I am now 224 pounds. It is easy to follow, and I don't feel hungry.
Atkins involves the restriction of carbohydrates in order to switch the body's metabolism from burning glucose to burning fat (chiefly, stored fat). This process (called lipolysis) begins when the body enters the state of ketosis as a consequence of running out of excess carbohydrates to burn(Most medical resources regard ketosis as a pathological state associated with chronic starvation). Ketostix, small chemically reactive strips used by diabetics can be bought at drug stores to check when you have entered in to a state of ketosis. It took me 4 days to enter this state, and I presume another 4 days if I ever cheated. Watching carbs is essential, go over 20g in a day and you've wasted your time.
You must follow it strictly, 'cheating' just once can knock you out of ketosis.
I am sure I will get responses about how bad a diet it is, but it works for me.

There's a diet kicking around the www called the Heart Foundation Diet (or something similar, but it's not endorsed by the BHF). Anyway, doing that, it's claimed you can lose 10lbs in 3 days. You can only do it around once a week though as it's pretty severe.

Do a google on British Heart Foundadtion Diet and you'll find it. It's the one which has you eating TUC biscuits, green beans, beetroot, tuna and ice cream for three days

LOL to that. I have just ordered Hubby to do the same to prepare for medicals. He is following weight watchers points system. It's easy cos it's not a specialist diet, it just limits calories. He didn't fare well with faddy diets - too difficult to stick to.
He has found a beer made by trappist monks that's only 101 calories (1.5 WW Points) for a largish bottle and it's 6.5 % alcohol so he is very happy tonight.

Ive just lost almost 10kgs by:
1. only drinking tea, hot water or cold water
2. not eating ANY junk
3. eating only home-made food.
4. eating only 2 meals a day - breakfast and a late hot lunch/early hot dinner
5. reducing my meat intake to 2-3 times a week (chicken, steak & tuna)
6. eating all the fresh fruit and veg i wanted to at anytime....even if it adds up to 10 portions a day.
7. eating bread only 1 or 2 times a week.
8. exercising - walking/jogging for 20 mins 3 times a week.

It CAN be done - you just have to really, really want to do it.

(I am back to "normal" now, but I want to lose a further stone.)

I've done this twice now, it works short term but I never want to see tuna ever again
Slimfast is another quick one and they've added more to their product line, I think sensible eating and exercise is the best way as you will only put it back on immediately you start eating 'normally' again. It's a lifestyle change to keep it off for good.

Reduce your meal portion sizes!
Increase your exercise routine, after work jump on an exercise bike or something similar for 30 mins, you want to aim to raise your pulse, break a sweat etc for 30 mins a day - on top of your normal activities.
Drink more water - it flushes your system and clears out toxins etc.
Lose the alcohol! Drastic but it so works!

Ive done all the above (most days not every day, 5 out of 7 etc)
since September and Ive lost 40lbs.
In shock that ive lost so much, but am sticking to it as I want to lose another 28lbs - then i'll be pre baby weight! (all my babies that is)!

Good Luck!

Cambridge Diet?

It's very drastic but it works! Altho you made need a doc to sign forms to allow you to do it (if you have a BMI over 40)

also eat in the morning, get your metabolism going as early as possible, you should feel hungry more during the day if you eat brekkie as it gets the body using up its reserves...then fuel the bod with healthy snacks/fruit to keep your sugar levels normal, otherwise youl crave sweet/bad stuff!
then eat sensible lunch and tea...

Wake up, squeeze a lemon into some warm water, drink it then make wild love to the OH.
Walk to work, take only fruit, walk home at lunch time, make wild love to the OH.

Walk back to work, only drink water, when your done, walk home, throw the OH on the bed, and....yep you guessed it, make wild love to her.

That night, eat a meagre supper of rice cakes, celery, tomatoes and honey, (you will need the energy) and take your OH to bed and take her to the stars and back.

Do this every day for 6 weeks and i can guarantee that you will lose a shed load!

The OH may be knackered but at least it will shut her up for a bit!
What do you think?
